11 Underrated Songs

I wrote about 11 songs that I think you should totally check out before the year ends.

I enjoy listening to good music, I mean doesn’t everyone? Music that you can relate to. Music that means something. Music that you love; that song that takes you away from wherever you are and you just focus on the lyrics. Music that can make you laugh. Music that can make you cry. Music that can make you think. Music that can make you dance. Music that can make you remember those wonderful, or even painful, memories but it oddly makes you content. Music speaks when words fail, I believe.

These are 11 songs that I think shouldn’t be left behind in this upcoming new year, music that I think everyone needs to listen to and just be happy. I’ve been particularly obsessed with these songs lately and I hope you will be too.

  • So Much More Than This by Grace VanderWaal

Overall, I pretty much adore Grace. She is only 13 and she is going places. Grace writes her own lyrics, is amazing at playing the ukelele and her voice is beyond unique and the beat and lyrics to this song literally make this song one of the best things to dance and sing to make your day better. Also, the music video to this song is aesthetically pleasing and creative.

  • 1000 Nights – Frenship

1000 Nights Music Video

This song is catchy and the lyrics are great. What I like about this song is how the music video was taken in a direction that didn’t conform to the sexual side of most music videos that talk about loving someone (I am not saying every music video does, it is something I observed). I also am in love with this music video as well.

  • hold on by flor

I listen to this song on my way to school almost every day and I honestly cannot help but sing a long to it, especially the lyrics that go, “in your skin, in your hair, I’m tangled up / in my head, in my mind, I can’t get out,” because it is just so catchy (I will probably say this many times).

  • Bite My Tongue by The Beach

Bite My Tongue Music Video

This is another song that is accompanied by a beautifully made music video. It shows support for cultures and it is raw talent made by the artist. Give it a watch 🙂

  • Looking Too Closely by Fink

I first discovered Fink when I heard a song that I liked called This Is The Thing by Fink on the movie Dear John (it is also a great song). Looking Too Closely starts out as a pretty mellow song and it continues to build and I enjoy just listening to this song when I am just laying back and relaxing. Again, another creative music video!

  • Sonora by Spendtime Palace

7 WORDS: FINN WOLFHARD, IRISA PATOW AND JOSH OVALLE. (This needs no further explanation other than WOW I LOVE THIS SONG!)

  • When I Get Older by Wild Party

I’ve never seen a music video like this one before, but I love it. This song is also very catchy and makes you want to sing along even though it is about three years old.

  • Someone To You by BANNERS

Someone To You Music Video

I am in love with the concept of the music video and I am in love with the lyrics because it is the song you just want to sing to the one you love because it just makes you think that you want to be someone to them. You know? Enjoy!

  • Beach Comber by Real Estate

This song just reminds me of something you would listen to on a road trip and probably use in the background of an artsy video.

  • Find Me by Sigma Ft. Birdy

I mean, Birdy is singing this song (and she has always had the most amazing voice) and to top it off, Millie Bobby Brown is in the music video, so obviously this song is good. That’s all I’ve got to say.

  • 30 Minute Break by The Luka State

I decided this was the best one to save for last for two reasons. First, Thomas Brodie-Sangster is in the music video. And second, the music video is important. Fair warning, there is a curse word in this song and the music video is more on the explicit side. Other than that, the message this song is portraying is important. The music video hits a string in me on the emotional side, I won’t spoil anything so just go watch the video!

Thank you for reading this today, I hope you enjoy at least one of these songs!!
